F.A.Q.

Q. Who are you?

A. NO - As the name of the site says, my name is David Beaver.

Q. Are you a professional photographer?

A. No, I am strictly an amateur photographer and make no claim to be anything more than that. Photography for me is strictly a hobby - something I do for fun - and model photography is a big part of that.

Q. Who pays who, or do you work on a TFCD basis?

A. As an amateur I prefer to work on a TFCD basis - this is where both I (as a photographer) and the model work together to produce images we can both use in our respective portfolios. If a model wants to hire me for a photoshoot, then I would be happy to work with them on their project. Of course, if I think a model has something unique to offer me, then I will in certain circumstances pay them for a shoot.

Q. Who owns the copyright on the photos displayed on this site?

A. This is an excellent question and not easy to answer.

The copyright to all the images (except banners used as links to other sites) shown on this site belongs in whole or in part to myself. This is covered by a model release form which is signed by the model and myself at the time of the shoot.

On those shoots where I have a paid the model for their time, I own the copyright outright, and can use the images for whatever purpose I choose, including onselling them.

On those shoots that were done on a TFCD (or TFP) basis, I own the copyright in conjunction with the respective model/s. In these circumstances, both the model/s and I are free to display the images on our portfolios, which includes this site. If an opportunity presents itself to sell an image from one of these shoots, the income is divided between myself and the model/s.

For any shoots where the model/s pay me, I would sign a release providing full copyright to the model, which would generally include relenquishing my right to display images from such a shoot on my portfolio and this site.

This is the simplistic answer to a very complicated question, but covers those shoots I am involved in. Of course these issues are worked out before the shoot takes place, and can be negotiated to suit each individual shoot.

If you are interested in working together and would like to discuss the respective model release form and copyright ownership of images, please contact me and we can discuss an arrangement that best suits the shoot.

Q. I love your work...can I buy a photo?

A. I am thrilled you love my work. I would be happy to sell you a photo either as a print or a licence to use a photo for your own purposes. Go to my shop to make your purchase.

Q. I have a question not answered here - what do I do?

A. Please send me your question, and I will answer it and will publish the answer here.
